Principal's Message

Happy Summer! What a year it has been! We have LOVED working with your family and we are proud of every student at Layer! We hope you have a fabulous summer and we look forward to what is ahead next year!

As a friendly reminder, you can access materials within your child's SCPS portal that can be used for practice this summer:
  • iReady for Reading and Math (until June 30)
  • Practice of Math curriculum using the "Savvas" tile or with books being sent home
  • Practice of Reading curriculum using the "McGraw Hill" tile or with books being sent home
  • Reading Tumblebooks
  • Take AR tests to practice comprehension (in Renassaince tile in your child's portal)

If you need support with registering or withdrawing your child for next school year, please call our office or email us at Layer_Registration@scps.k12.fl.us. Our office will be open this summer Mondays-Thursdays from 7:30a.m.-4:00p.m.

We're riding the wave to success next school year! Here are some important dates to help you plan ahead...

  • Kindergarten Curriculum Night- August 6 at 6:30p.m.
  • Layer's Meet the Teacher- August 7 from 9:00a.m.-11:00a.m.
  • PTA Popsicles in the Park for Incoming Kindergarteners- August 8
  • First Day of School- August 10

Summer Reading with Sunshine State Program

The Sunshine State program is an exciting way to  encourage students to read books
for pleasure and then offers rewards for their effort!

Each level contains 15 excellent books which are promoted throughout Florida schools.

Sunshine State Jr.
Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, & developing 3rd

Sunshine State Young Readers
Independent 3rd, 4th, & 5th

The program will officially kick-off in the fall, but you can start reading and taking AR tests now! Books can be found in local & online bookstores, at the county libraries, and online through the Sora tile in the SCPS Portal. Simply ask for the “Sunshine State Books” (make sure you specify the Sunshine State Jr. or Sunshine State Young Reader list!)

Registration Happening Now

Registration for the 2026-2027 School Year is now open! As a reminder, SCPS is currently in our Controlled Open Enrollment Window as well. This allows students from other counties or other areas to apply to attend a school outside of their zoned school...spread the word that we want more families at Layer!

Pride Expectations

PRIDE Expectations with PBIS!

Layer is proud to be a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) School! We expect all students to follow our PRIDE expectations so we can keep our school a happy and safe place for all students.

We appreciate family support as we link all behavior choices to our expectations across our campus with our continued Lucky Bucks and our consistent Behavior Alert system. Layer follows a Heirachy of Consequences in every classroom which can be viewed HERE.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Student Code of Conduct. These are the expectations that all students follow to keep our school happy and safe.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Dress Code. We ask that all students have appropriate clothing and safe shoes to play outside in each day. No flip-flops please!
