Principal's Message

Spring is in the air! We are seeing amazing "blooming" happening all over campus with student growth in all aspects of learning! As we have shared many times before, our priority is to keep students "happy and safe" on campus each day. Please help us with the following requests so we can end the year strong together:

  • Please do not drop your child off until the first bell at 8:05a.m. each day. Supervision in the morning does not begin until the bell at 8:05a.m. and we want everyone to be monitored carefully.

  • We would love to have all students at school by 8:35a.m. each day! Students enter the classrooms at 8:30a.m. and they need time to settle and unpack before the learning starts. Did you know that we start our day with PRIDE time which is where students build their classroom community and get skills to support self regulation? We also have intervention groups in the morning, so if students are tardy they do not get the extra practice to build up their skills.

  • If your child is coming in tardy, they must be escorted to the front office by an adult. Please do not drop your students off without walking them in. We want to ensure that students are always supervised by an adult.

  • ALL people who are coming to check out their child must have an ID present for us to verify. We will scan your photo ID for safety purpose in the Raptor system. In addition, it is helpful if the teacher knows in advance that they will be leaving so the student can have their backpack with them if they are not in the classroom.

  • If you are a car rider, please help us follow the car line safely. Many families are weaving around cars in the morning and we want to make sure that we have a safe environment for students, staff, and pedestrians crossing. Please also do not drop the students off at the end of the sidewalk by the bike area. We want them to exit cars by the numbered poles so that an adult can assist if needed.

  • We truly believe in "see something, say something!" We appreciate your support in empowering all students to use their voice to share their concerns with adults on campus. We want everyone to feel comfortable at Layer!

As always, please let us know if you have questions, feedback, or celebrations.

Pride Expectations

PRIDE Expectations with PBIS!

Layer is proud to be a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) School! We expect all students to follow our PRIDE expectations so we can keep our school a happy and safe place for all students.

We appreciate family support as we link all behavior choices to our expectations across our campus with our continued Lucky Bucks and our consistent Behavior Alert system. Layer follows a Heirachy of Consequences in every classroom which can be viewed HERE.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Student Code of Conduct. These are the expectations that all students follow to keep our school happy and safe.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Dress Code. We ask that all students have appropriate clothing and safe shoes to play outside in each day. No flip-flops please!
