This February, we are proud to celebrate Black History Month by honoring the achievements and lasting impact of influential Black leaders, artists, and change-makers. Throughout the month, our news segments will highlight important figures each day who have made lasting contributions to history and culture. This week, we will recognize Nat King Cole, Morgan Freeman, Arthur Ashe, James Earl Jones, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, W.E.B. Du Bois, Alex Haley, Langston Hughes, and Chuck Berry. Students will learn about how these individuals shaped history through music, literature, athletics, activism, and the arts, and how their contributions continue to inspire our world today. We look forward to sharing this meaningful celebration of culture, creativity, and history with our school community.
