Principal's Message

Layer is doing great things! You don't want to miss our "Student Led Conference Night" THIS THURSDAY NIGHT. I want to personally invite you to bring your student and they will be ready to show you how much they have been growing! Students will be presenting their data, giving a classroom tour, and sharing about their instruction from 6:00p.m.-7:00p.m. All of our K-5 families are welcome anytime during that window and you will want to pop by the Media Center for your Family Connection Kit. We also have our FAST Parent Information Sessions (with childcare) from 5:30p.m.-6:00p.m. for Grades K-2 and 7:00p.m.-7:30p.m. for Grades 3-5. Don't forget about the PTA meeting at 5:15p.m. as well and food trucks/community tables will be set up from 5:30-7:30p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!

Please know that our teachers, staff, and administration are here to support! Let us know what questions, insight, or feedback you have!

The Adventure Awaits!

Friendly Winter Reminders!

We know that with the cold weather season is here and we want to keep all students happy and healthy at Layer! Please help us remember the following:

  • Be sure to put your child's name in their jackets and sweaters so that items can be returned if they are left behind. Our Lost and Found has grown since winter break!
  • If your child is sick, please be sure to let them rest at home! Students coming to school need to be fever free, diarrhea free, and vomit free for at least 24 hours.

February Family Connections Calendar

During P.R.I.D.E. time at Layer Elementary, students participate in Overcoming Obstacles lessons that build important life skills like resilience, responsibility, goal-setting, and problem-solving. This resource is designed to help families continue those conversations at home—using the same language and strategies students are learning at school—so children can practice these skills in everyday situations.

Black History Month

This February, we are proud to celebrate Black History Month by honoring the achievements and lasting impact of influential Black leaders, artists, and change-makers. Throughout the month, our news segments will highlight important figures each day who have made lasting contributions to history and culture. This week, we will recognize Nat King Cole, Morgan Freeman, Arthur Ashe, James Earl Jones, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, W.E.B. Du Bois, Alex Haley, Langston Hughes, and Chuck Berry. Students will learn about how these individuals shaped history through music, literature, athletics, activism, and the arts, and how their contributions continue to inspire our world today. We look forward to sharing this meaningful celebration of culture, creativity, and history with our school community.

Pride Expectations

PRIDE Expectations with PBIS!

Layer is proud to be a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) School! We expect all students to follow our PRIDE expectations so we can keep our school a happy and safe place for all students.

We appreciate family support as we link all behavior choices to our expectations across our campus with our continued Lucky Bucks and our consistent Behavior Alert system. Layer follows a Heirachy of Consequences in every classroom which can be viewed HERE.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Student Code of Conduct. These are the expectations that all students follow to keep our school happy and safe.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Dress Code. We ask that all students have appropriate clothing and safe shoes to play outside in each day. No flip-flops please!
