Principal's Message

Hip, Hip, Hooray....we've had a great 100 days! The amount of growth we are seeing from all of our students is incredible! We have 80 more days of learning this year and we will be making each day count! Please be sure to check out all of the important information below. We have tons of fun happening and we always want our community to be included!

Please know that our teachers, staff, and administration are here to support! Let us know what questions, insight, or feedback you have!

Friendly Winter Reminders!

We know that with the cold weather season is here and we want to keep all students happy and healthy at Layer! Please help us remember the following:

Be sure to put your child's name in their jackets and sweaters so that items can be returned if they are left behind. Our Lost and Found has grown since winter break!
If your child is sick, please be sure to let them rest at home! Students coming to school need to be fever free, diarrhea free, and vomit free for at least 24 hours.

Attendance Matters!

Please send in your excuse notes for absences or tardies to LRES_attendance@myscps.us or log into your Family Skyward account. Please be sure your doctor's & excuse notes are in within two weeks of the absence so they can be entered properly! Excuse notes need to explain the family emergency or if your child is sick to be excused. After 10 written/emailed parent notes, doctor notes are required.

VPK Applications Open for Next Year

The on-time VPK application period for the 2026-2027 School Year at SCPS locations is January 10 to February 10. To be eligible for VPK, a child must be four years of age by September 1, 2026. SCPS VPK offers a high-quality program designed to prepare students to enter Kindergarten ready to learn!

PRIDE Expectations with PBIS!

Layer is proud to be a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) School! We expect all students to follow our PRIDE expectations so we can keep our school a happy and safe place for all students.

We appreciate family support as we link all behavior choices to our expectations across our campus with our continued Lucky Bucks and our consistent Behavior Alert system. Layer follows a Heirachy of Consequences in every classroom which can be viewed HERE.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Student Code of Conduct. These are the expectations that all students follow to keep our school happy and safe.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Dress Code. We ask that all students have appropriate clothing and safe shoes to play outside in each day. No flip-flops please!
