Principal's Message

What an incredible first semester we have had at Layer! It truly takes us all working together as a team to create a positive learning environment for our students. Our staff at Layer Elementary continues to be committed to high levels of learning for each and every student. It is important that we work together as a team to provide the best learning environment possible and maintain high expectations at all times.

Please remember that Mrs. Wright and I also have an open door for parents to answer questions, hear your feedback, or assist in addressing any concerns.

As we are in the midst of this holiday season, I encourage all of you to give the gift of time to the ones you love. It’s so very easy to get caught up in finding that perfect gift, when the time we spend and memories that we make together is what will truly matter from year to year. I am very grateful for the time you allow me to spend with your children each and every day.

Layer's PTA and our Guidance department is working with local community members and businesses to support many Layer families that are in need of some holiday support.

5th Grade Egg Drop Supplies

We are seeking donations of "stuff" for our 5th graders to use to create a perfect vessel to bring their egg safely down to earth without breaking!

If you have any of the following items (or things like it), please send it in to school and have your student place it in the box in the front foyer! Thank you for helping! Make sure to watch the Layer Facebook page to see the 5th grade Egg Drop and which eggs survive the drop on December 12th!

Egg Drop Items Needed:
small boxes, cereal boxes, bubble wrap, yarn, foam, packing peanuts, masking tape, feathers, rubber bands, cardboard tubes, straws, plastic bottles or containers, etc.

Student Leadership Club

Calling all LEADERS! Layer is begin our Student Leadership Club in the second semester. Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades are invited to complete the form below to show interest in this opportunity. Our goal for the club is to discuss and problem solve ways that we can grow Layer together. We will also be leading the Incoming Kindergarten Tour in April. The Student Leadership Club will meet with Mrs. Todd before school every 2nd & 4th Friday from January through May from 8:05-8:35a.m.

Students will fill out THIS FORM and give it to Mrs. Todd if they are interested in joining the Layer Leadership Club by December 12.

Attendance Matters!

Please send in your excuse notes for absences or tardies to LRES_attendance@myscps.us or log into your Family Skyward account. Please be sure your doctor's & excuse notes are in within two weeks of the absence so they can be entered properly! Excuse notes need to explain the family emergency or if your child is sick to be excused. After 10 written/emailed parent notes, doctor notes are required.

Pride Expectations

PRIDE Expectations with PBIS!

Layer is proud to be a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) School! We expect all students to follow our PRIDE expectations so we can keep our school a happy and safe place for all students.

We appreciate family support as we link all behavior choices to our expectations across our campus with our continued Lucky Bucks and our consistent Behavior Alert system. Layer follows a Heirachy of Consequences in every classroom which can be viewed HERE.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Student Code of Conduct. These are the expectations that all students follow to keep our school happy and safe.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Dress Code. We ask that all students have appropriate clothing and safe shoes to play outside in each day. No flip-flops please!
