Principal's Message

Happy Almost September! We have had an incredible start to the 2025-26 school year! We loved our "Boots on the Ground" Dance this week and we look forward to more adventures ahead! Please be sure to mark your calendars for our upcoming Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 4th! We appreciate your partnership with learning as we prioritize student achievement.

Since September is Attendance Awareness Month, please support your child's education by ensuring that they are present from 8:30a.m.-3:05p.m. each day! If students are tardy or if they get picked up early, they do miss important instructional time. As always, if they are sick, we want them to rest and recover before returning to school. Please send in your excuse notes for absences or tardies to LRES_attendance@myscps.us or log into your Family Skyward account. Please be sure your doctor's & excuse notes are in within two weeks of the absence so they can be entered properly! Excuse notes need to explain the family emergency or if your child is sick to be excused. After 10 written/emailed parent notes, doctor notes are required.

As always, please let us know if you have questions, feedback, or suggestions!

  • 8/25-9/26- FAST Progress Monitoring 1 for Grades K-5 (see schedule below)
  • 9/1- Labor Day- No School
  • 9/2- First day families may eat lunch with students outside (during scheduled student lunch times)
  • 9/4- Curriculum Night for 1st-5th Grades and ESE at 6:00p.m. or 6:45p.m. (info below)
  • 9/9- SAC Meeting 7:45a.m.- 8:30a.m.
  • 9/11 & 9/12- Lucky's Locker (donations needed, see below)

Food Safety Reminders

We are excited to welcome families to have lunch with their children starting Tuesday! Please remember the following:
  • You need your ID to check into the office through Raptor. We then will get your child from the cafeteria to eat with their parent/guardian outside.
  • Adults may only eat with their child (no additional friends) and the adult must be listed in Skyward or on their security card.
  • NO OUTSIDE FOOD can be dropped off or ordered for students to pick up (Uber Eats, GrubHub, etc,) due to safety! This includes parents dropping off fast food for breakfast or lunch.
  • If a parent is eating with their child during lunch, you may eat that outside with your student.

Layer Food Pantry Assistance

Sign up to receive free support from the Layer Food Pantry. This includes our food backpack program in which families receive food to take home on the weekends. This is completely optional and you can cancel anytime. Answers will remain confidential.

Pride Expectations

PRIDE Expectations with PBIS!

Layer is proud to be a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) School! We expect all students to follow our PRIDE expectations so we can keep our school a happy and safe place for all students.

We appreciate family support as we link all behavior choices to our expectations across our campus with our continued Lucky Bucks and our consistent Behavior Alert system. Layer follows a Heirachy of Consequences in every classroom which can be viewed HERE.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Student Code of Conduct. These are the expectations that all students follow to keep our school happy and safe.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Dress Code. We ask that all students have appropriate clothing and safe shoes to play outside in each day. No flip-flops please!
