Principal's Message

We love growing our community at Layer! I want to personally invite you to our first family event of the year on Thursday, August 28th! Grab your best western wear as we have our "Boots On the Ground" PTA dance! Food will be available for purchase and many of our community partners will have tables to visit. The fun starts at 5:30p.m. with our PTA Meeting, then we will be dancing from 6:00p.m.-7:30p.m. We hope to see you there!

In addition, we appreciate your support as we still work together to strengthen procedures and routines. We ask that NO students are dropped off before 8:05a.m. each morning since supervision doesn't begin until then. Also, everytime you come to Layer, be sure to have your ID with you. It is scanned to check-out any student. Please review other tips below so we can be consistent and safe!

Please know we are here if you have questions, feedback, or needs!

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

We want to ask for your assistance since we want to keep our campus safe for all students during arrival and dismissal. Please read the important reminders below:

  • Please do not drop off your child before 8:05a.m. since there is NO supervision. We need all students to remain in their cars until the 8:05a.m. bell rings. If your child is a walker, please help their timing so they do not arrive to campus before 8:05a.m.
  • We ask that you check your student out by 2:30p.m. to avoid getting delayed in our busy end-of-day routines & dismissal procedures.
  • ALL people who are coming to check out their child must have an ID present for us to verify. This will be scanned into our Raptor system.
  • If you have any changes with dismissal, please call the front office before 2:30p.m. or notify the teacher in writing in the student planner. Emails/phone calls directly to the teacher might not be received before dismissal!

Attendance Counts!

Absences add up! We want to prioritize your child's learning, but they need to be in school as much as possible to do so! Please support your child's education by ensuring that they are present from 8:30a.m.-3:05p.m. each day! If students are tardy or if they get picked up early, they do miss important instructional time. As always, if they are sick, we want them to rest and recover before returning to school.

Please send in your excuse notes for absences or tardies to LRES_attendance@myscps.us or log into your Family Skyward account. Please be sure they are in within two weeks of the absence so they can be entered properly! Your notes need to explain the family emergency or if your child is sick to be excused. After 10 written/emailed parent notes, doctor notes are required. Let Admin know if you have any questions or needs!

Pride Expectations

PRIDE Expectations with PBIS!

Layer is proud to be a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) School! We expect all students to follow our PRIDE expectations so we can keep our school a happy and safe place for all students.

We appreciate family support as we link all behavior choices to our expectations across our campus with our continued Lucky Bucks and our consistent Behavior Alert system. Layer follows a Heirachy of Consequences in every classroom which can be viewed HERE.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Student Code of Conduct. These are the expectations that all students follow to keep our school happy and safe.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Dress Code. We ask that all students have appropriate clothing and safe shoes to play outside in each day. No flip-flops please!
