Principal's Message

Happy Summer! It's time to "set sail" as we begin a new school year at Layer Elementary! We are excited to welcome our "Adventurers" to campus for the 2025-2026 school year! We will be embracing our traveling theme as we know our "Adventure Awaits... LEARNing is a Journey That Never Ends at Layer!" Our LEARN focuses will be: Leaning on peers to enhance support and positive attitudes, Engaging practices that foster student discussions, Ambitious Instruction with a focus on Collective Responsibility, Relationship Tools with self-management and self-regulation, and Navigating differentiation to increase student achievement.

Please read below for some important Back-to-School information. We will continue to send our Layer Link each Saturday morning at 9:00a.m. throughout the year so you can stay connected to our campus happenings! We are now using the ParentSquare platform as the primary way you will receive school information. Be sure to keep your email address and phone number current in Skyward! Please be aware that Skyward is updating and schedules are still being inputted. Teacher assignments will be official on Wednesday, August 6.

If you need support with registering or withdrawing your child for next school year, please call our office or email us at Layer_Registration@scps.k12.fl.us.

Meet the Teacher- Friday, August 8th

Please join us for our Meet the Teacher Event for the 2025-2026 school year! We look forward to seeing our K-5, VPK, and Pre-K students and families during the 9:00a.m.-11:00a.m. window.

In addition to meeting your teacher, you can bring your school supplies, sign up for a membership with our Layer Elementary PTA, get your car signs (register below), speak with Red Apple Dining, chat with KidZone, meet our Crossing Guards, get bus information with Transportation, and more!

Apply for Meal Benefits

New applications must be submitted each school year to verify eligibility.
* All students in a household should be placed on the same application. Only one application per household is needed.
Meal benefits is a federally assisted meal program that provides free and reduced-priced meals and additional services to qualifying students.
Our District is committed to providing each student with the tools they need to succeed, including nutritious meals they can enjoy. All students are eligible to apply for meal benefits and we encourage SCPS families needing financial support to submit an application for the 2025-2026 school year.
In addition to qualifying for free and reduced-priced meals, completing the meal benefits application may qualify your family for discounted internet services, after-school programs, and additional resources for your school.

Layer Car Signs

  • If you plan to pick up your child(ren) through the car line, you must display a personalized car sign. Click the link below to register for your car signs. https://tinyurl.com/LayerCarTags
  • Car signs, 2 per family, will be printed and available for pick-up at Meet the Teacher. After that day, parents must show ID at the front desk to receive the signs.

The Dividends School Volunteer Program is a district-wide effort that encourages and promotes community involvement in the Seminole County Public Schools. You must be a registered Dividend to volunteer during school events or chaperone any field trip.

PRIDE Expectations with PBIS!

Layer is proud to be a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) School! We expect all students to follow our PRIDE expectations so we can keep our school a happy and safe place for all students.

We appreciate family support as we link all behavior choices to our expectations across our campus with our continued Lucky Bucks and our consistent Behavior Alert system. Layer follows a Heirachy of Consequences in every classroom which can be viewed HERE.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Student Code of Conduct. These are the expectations that all students follow to keep our school happy and safe.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Dress Code. We ask that all students have appropriate clothing and safe shoes to play outside in each day. No flip-flops please!
